We are Ildikó Rippel and Rosie Garton. We are a two-woman Anglo-German performance company. And we are friends.
We have created performance work in our kitchens, living rooms, gardens and theatre spaces, whilst breast-feeding, between the school runs, over dinner and among marking essays.
We create multi-media theatre that uses humour as a mechanism to explore the realities of unimaginable experiences, and juxtaposes the realities of the everyday with the grandeur of the cinematic. Often combing German and English language, the work examines cultural identity, themes of displacement and home, alongside our own experiences of motherhood.
We make work for theatre spaces, site-specific performance, street interventions, performance installations, films and performance lectures that have toured regionally, nationally and internationally.
Wir sind Ildikó Rippel und Rosie Garton. Wir sind zwei Frauen. Wir sind Mamas. Wir sind Akademikerinnen. Wir sind ein Deutsch-Englisches Performance-Kolelktiv. Und wir sind Freundinnen.
Wir kreieren Theater in unseren Kuechen, Wohnzimmern, Gaerten und auf Probebuehnen, zwische Schule und Vorlesung, beim Stillen, beim Essen, beim Trinken, beim Tanzen, und beim Korrekturen schreiben.
Wir machen multimedia Theater mit Humor, um unvorstellbare Erlebnisse darzustellen, und zeigen die Banalitaeten des Alltags eingewoben in the grandiosen Fantasien der Kinoleinwand. Oft kombinieren wir die Englische und Deutsche Sprache, um Themen von kultureller Identitaet zu erkunschaften, gemeinsam mit unseren eigenen Erfahrungen vom Mutter sein.
Wir kreieren Performance fuer das Theater, fuer Film, Strassen performance,und fuer akadaemische Vortraege, die regional, national und international presentiert werden.
