Circle Symphony

Originally commissioned for Neat 11 (Nottingham European Arts and Theatre festival)

‘Circle Symphony’ is a site specific performance that takes an autobiographical twist on traditional maypole dancing. 12 dancers perform a 20-minute maypole dance slowed down to a 2-hour routine. From the communal act we will highlight the individual performer and all that lies beneath the surface of the perfect, polished choreography. The dancers are united in their routine but listen to a personally chosen soundtrack – their favourite song on loop over 2 hours – via headphones.

Together, yet isolated, they dance to their distinctive desert island disc.
